DNA synthesis, the ability to "write" DNA, is a foundational technology in life sciences research and engineering. Access to tailor-made DNA molecules enabled the development of powerful technologies such as PCR and CRISPR/Cas9, and the demand for synthetic DNA is growing rapidly. Currently, all synthetic DNA is made using organic chemistry via a method that has remained essentially unchanged for 35 years and has approached a plateau. With synthetic DNA fueling innovation in biological research, therapeutics, diagnostics, and biomanufacturing, there is an urgent need for faster and more accurate DNA synthesis than is possible with current methods. Ansa Biotechnologies is developing a novel DNA synthesis technology that harnesses the exquisitely precise and very fast machinery that nature uses to make DNA.
